Wrestling in the Olympics

Great news today. Wrestling will be included in the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. I am excited wrestlers can still fulfill their dreams of wrestling in the Olympics. The shock of possibly not being included in the Olympics has forced FILA to make some positive strides. The wrestling community, as a whole, needs to continue to work hard to make our sport better and also work with the IOC to get wrestling reinstated as one of the Olympic core sports. I guess now wrestling will have some extra time to make positive changes.

Tomorrow will be a big day for us at George Mason. At 10am Monday September 9 tickets will go on sale for the 2013 NWCA All-Star Classic. Ticket prices will vary from $150 – $10 (with a group discount). To purchase tickets go to http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/15004B1CAE85423C or go to the Patriot Center Box Office.

We will also host our 2nd annual Paul Maltagliati Memorial Golf Tournament at Bull Run Golf Club tomorrow (Monday, September 9). If you haven’t signed up as of yet, please show up early to get registered. Registration starts at 1030am.

The team started preseason workouts last week. We will have a large team. The guys seemed excited to get going. As a result, they are making me excited about the upcoming season. If they continue to lift each other up, they can do great things.
