Banquet

Jerry and Carol Mullins hosted us on Sunday at their home as we celebrated our end of the year team banquet. It was a great day. Tom Carr did a good job organizing the event.

We honored everyone on the team by presenting them with a plaque. There is nothing easy about being a wrestler. Even more so being a D1 wrestler. I want the guys to look back on their time at GMU with a sense of accomplishment.

We also honored our seniors. All of them had a chance to speak to the crowd. This is a pretty special time of their life for guys who have persevered and endured the rigors of a college career. I am excited for them to attack the next chapter of their life.

Derek Dwyer will graduate this spring in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. He plans on going to graduate school at Binghamton University.
Ryan Hembury will graduate this spring with a degree in Health and Physical Education. He plans on teaching.
Ryan Hunsberger will graduate this spring in Health Promotion. He plans to go to graduate school.
Zach Isenhour will be graduating this spring with a double major degree in Government & International Politics and Conflict Analysis & Resolution. He plans to work for a non-profit.
Jake Kettler will graduate this spring in Organizational Administration. Jake plans on training Greco-Roman through 2016 and eventually would like to coach.

If anyone knows of potential connections for any of these soon to be graduates, I am sure they would love the help networking.

We also honored 5 individuals. Our Freshman Academic Award winner was Cameron O’Connor. Our Upper-Class Academic Award winner was Jake Kettler. Our Paul Maltagliati Most Dedicated Wrestler recipient was Sahid Kargbo. Our Freshman Most Valuable Wrestler was Ibrahim Bunduka. Our Most Valuable Wrestler was Greg Flournoy.

It was a fun day to celebrate the past season. Nevertheless, it is also exciting to see the work guys are already putting in preparing for the coming season. I like the effort I have seen thus far during our spring training phase. We have a good group of grapplers.
